National Hug Day

Have you hugged anyone yet? January 21, 2017 is national hug day. So, go ahead, give someone a nice, big bear hug. National hug day started in Caro, Michigan in 1986 but as we know, hugging started long before that. It’s a big part of nearly every celebration in sports. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has taken hugging to a whole different level. He greets every star football player who has been drafted in the first round with a monster bear hug. It’s become tradition and must see television. And hugging can be good for you! According to one study, hugging can increase levels of oxytocin and reduce blood pressure. How about that? GoodSport salutes all those who are in the mood to hug and celebrate.
