What Is Global Running Day?

More than 2.5 million people from 185 countries will pledge to run more than 9.2 million miles on Global Running Day. Each year, the first Wednesday of June people participate in celebrating the joys of running while also supporting great causes. Runners can make a pledge to a variety of fundraisers and nonprofit organizations of their choice such as Wounded Warrior Project and American Diabetes Association.

In 2009, the United States launched National Running Day. Seven years later, the name was formally changed to Global Running Day. Accompanying Global Run Day is The Million Kid Run, which is the youth division and its goal is have 1 million participants. Its focus is to make fitness fun and inspire kids to embrace running to remain healthy.
