High School Track & Field Phenom Sydney McLaughlin

Track & Field Phenom Finishes High School Career On Top

Sydney McLaughlin is arguably the most dominant high school phenom since LeBron James. The University of Kentucky track and field commit just recently graduated high school and finished her career on top at nationals. For the fourth consecutive time, McLaughlin won the 400-meter hurdles. She clocked in at 54.22. Although it was shorter than her time of 54.03, which broke her own national and world record, it was still enough to be the New Balance Nationals Outdoor record.

McLaughlin is a fan favorite with an established following on social media before even reaching the collegiate level. This may have something to do with being the youngest track and field Olympian the U.S. has had in 44 years when she competed in the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. She finished fifth in her semifinal heat of the 400-meter hurdles.

At a young age, McLaughlin has already seen much success that she hopes to continue as Wildcat in Fall 2017.
