Ryan Dickens

The Ultimate Good Sport

Ryan Dickens is a talented 17-year-old kid who earned a scholarship to play Division I football at UConn. But the Raritan High School (NJ) senior had to make a change of plans when Randy Edsall, the new head coach of UConn, pulled the university’s scholarship offer to him. Dickens handled adversity with class and dignity. That's part of the great make-up of the kid who is the definition of a student-athlete. He carries a 3.9 grade point average, was captain of the team, and the all-state linebacker is a pillar in the community. Dickens holds a leadership position with a teen suicide prevention program in New Jersey and several years ago, with the help of his family, founded RAINE, an organization which provides food, clothing, assistance during the holidays, and various other necessities for families in crisis. RAINE stands for Reaching All in Need Every Day. Dickens recently received a scholarship offer from the University of Rhode Island and will make his college choice official during national signing day during the first week of February.
