NFL Players Invest in Lemonade Stand

A 12 year old girl from Austin, Texas has received financial backing from 10 NFL players in her small business, Me & The Bees Lemonade. However, this is no elementary school lemonade stand. Mikaila Ulmer started selling lemonade after her great-grandmother gave her a family recipe from the 1940s. Ulmer’s lemonade was so popular she began to receive offers to sell it in stores.

NFL players Arian Foster, Glover Quin, Duane Brown, Jonathan Grimes, Omar Bolden, Bobby Wagner, Darius Slay, Sharrick McManis, EJ Manuel, and Malik Jackson caught wind of the business and invested $810,000 in Me & The Bees Lemonade. Foster told the Houston Chronicle that the players were looking for an investment opportunity that gave back to the community, and could help a promising young entrepreneur like Ulmer.

Ulmer is invested in supporting Heifer International, an organization that provides the gift of Heifer Honeybees to needy families around the world, the Texas Beekeepers Association for the preservation of honeybees, as well as the Sustainable Food Center whose mission is to strengthen the local food systems.
