Stephen Register with Celtics

Boston Celtic For A Day

The Boston Celtics made a strong addition to their roster, signing Stephen Register, a free-agent from nearby Needham, Massachusetts. The Celtics only signed Register to a one-day contract, but that one day is something the 11-year-old kid will never forget. Register is a hardcore fan of the Celtics, but he suffers from a condition called intractable epilepsy. With the help of the Make-A-Wish foundation, which tries to make things just a little bit better for children with life-threatening illnesses, Register and the Celtics worked out their one-day contract. The Celtics introduced Register to the media at their home arena, TD Garden, and presented him with a jersey with his name on it and a new pair of sneakers. He also had the chance to get on the court with his new teammates, Kelly Olynyk and Amir Johnson, to shoot a few hoops.
