New York Mets Hire First Female Announcer

On Wednesday May 30 the New York Mets announced that Marysol Castro would be the new PA announcer for the 2018 season. Castro will be the first female PA announcer in the team’s history. She is very appreciative of the opportunity and is grateful that the organization was able to counter its status quo and provide a female with the opportunity of being the voice of the Mets.

When asked about her new role Casto discussed how grateful she was for the opportunity. “I appreciate the Mets for doing something they’ve never done in franchise history,” Castro said in a statement. “I look forward to working with the team, including my partner Colin Cosell, who has sports royalty running through his veins.”

Prior to accepting this position Castro spent the last two decades as a TV host and reporter, having worked at WPIX-TV and News 12 The Bronx, as well as a weather anchor for Good Morning America. She has also had short stints as the weather anchor for the Early Bird Show on CBS and as an ESPN host and sideline reporter. It is safe to say that Castro is more than qualified for the position and we here at GoodSport look forward to hearing her throughout the season.
